He was weak-willed, vacillating, milquetoast figure who stood for nothing but his own self-interest. His positions changed depending on who stood before him. And usually the one who stood before him was his wife who manipulated him and the government.
She was a highly motivated, politically directed feminist who knew how to use her position for personal gain. There was no doubt about it. She was the brains of the duo and as hard as nails. Her ambitions was never satisfied.
Their greed was finally exposed to the nation thtough a mismanaged, fraudulent, real estate deal. Her fingerprints were on the incrimination government documents. At least one man died because he knew to much. But even then, she was so feared that no one dared ask to many questions.
Sound familar? Thier names were Ahab and Jezebel. They ruled as King and Queen of Israel 2,300 years ago. They wove such a web of witchcraft that the whole nation became corrupt. Government officals lied about the one another. People were falsely charged and sentenced. Justice was perverted. Some were exucuted.
Only a few men of God had the courage to speak up about the government persecution of the Church when they were living in caves, living on bread and water smuggled to them by fellow believers. The prophet Elijah, the only one to publicly challenge Ahab and Jezebel, was so discouraged he begged God to take his life.
You have probably noticed the uncanny parallel between the ancient story of Ahab and Jezebel and America's own melodrama playing out in the White House of Bill and Hillary Clinton. Like Ahab and Jezebel before them, Bill and Hillary are tying to live down their association with a fraudulent real estate deal. Fourteen people have already been convicted or pled guilty in court. Four prominent White House staffers have resigned.
As this goes to the press USA today reports: "The White House expects a new round of Whitewater indictments by the end of February (1997) including some present or former staffers." Whitewater special prosecutor Kenneth Starr is presently taking testimony from James McDougal. White House Counsel Jane Sherburne's on-the-record acknowledgment that the indictments are exected is the first by a top White House aide.
Adding to the White House woes is the mysterious death of the president's attorney and Hillary Clintons closet friend Vince Foster in Fort Marcy Park. Official police reports lay by his side.
The newsrooms and pulpits of America should be in an uproar, but the newsrooms share the philosophy of today's Ahab and Jezebel and the pulpits have been frightened into submission as government agencies have finally begun the long-anticipated pulling of tax-exempt status from anyone they view as "the enemy." from the book Days of Deception by John Hagee
