Worship Is Submission Let’s think through the basic meaning of one of the New Testament’s primary words for worship: proskeuneo, which means “to prostrate oneself.” It refers to the custom of bowing face down before God. Of course the essence of falling on one’s face is more than simply prostrating the body. It demonstrates submission of the will—a sign that we totally forfeit self will in favor of God’s will. Proskeuneo worship implies absolute submission to the Lord. The Heart of Praise. Matthew 4:10 NLT “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the LORD your God and serve only him.’”
