Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
The Gift of Grace
Grace is the provision of God’s work in place of ours. None of our works are effective in any way, but God’s works are complete and all-powerful. The root meaning of this Greek word “grace”—charis—is “gift.” A gift is something that is given without any condition. The only “condition” is that the giver loves the person he is giving the gift to and so decides to pay for it.
God loves you and has paid the entire bill for your salvation. That is grace. You can’t do anything to earn it.
GRACE = God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense.
